I have been involved with the creation of a new online radio station called IO Radio. Not only do I have a weekly slot on their morning show ‘What Trends’ and have my own music show called ‘The Mixtape’, but I also led the first live broadcast of the station on the 19th August (2013). But this is besides the point. IO Radio is housed under CSV Media Clubhouse in Ipswich, Suffolk. Ipswich is a space which (and I have no doubt in thinking this) is holding within it’s walls an incredible amount of creative talent and thought, if it is possible to stereotype an urban space, but it is hidden. The talent within the space is not being encouraged and appreciated as much as it would be in other urban spaces. IO Radio looks to change this. It has created a platform for audio expression which draws from diversity and the ideas of a great spectrum of people to deliver a coherent unit that will give Ipswich a great push towards obtaining a true identity.
I have written a couple of articles for the VXM Blog (a counter project to IO Radio) tracking it’s progress, leading up to the launch. They are linked in below as well as the appropriate pages across the internet so you can have a listen.
